In Black Violets I address the theme of absence and the blackness in which I hide my being, I abandon my mind, where the word becomes a boulder to which I tie my spirit and where poetry becomes a form of invocation.
Black Violets is born from my desire to tell about my love for the garden, as a physical and spiritual place, as a mirror of my consciousness.
I did so by interpreting the famous Violet, an austere and delicate flower, but with a strong character.
My Violet tells of March mornings, when the earth is still moist and cold, wet from the late winter and the first lights of spring illuminate the meadow. Violets grow and scent the days, a ritual that repeats year after year.
I wanted to modernize tradition, to seek balance between the powdery, fruity, and woody notes. The crunchy note of Blackcurrant tells of the freshness of those mornings, the accord of Vetiver, Patchouli, and Frankincense brings us back to the earth, to our roots.
The Violet, the Iris and the flowery accord are the emotion, the light, the elegance. A contemporary classic, a Violet from the 1920s but of the new century.
